We are breaking new ground in personnel-related ice hockey training – 10 lessons for 6 players aged 14 and over – 2 places still available

Modern ice hockey is constantly evolving and team training is no longer sufficient to promote the full potential of each individual player. Every player is different, and for this reason individual skills must be refined. On-ice training is team-oriented and not individual-oriented. We now offer differentiated training on the second Wednesday of each month. Herbert Schädler, who also works for the SIHF, will lead the training in groups of 4-6 players and accompany them throughout the season. We still have space for players aged 14 and over, if next Tuesday is too short notice, the new players can take part in training from Wednesday November 2nd.

With the Zuchwil sports center we also have an optimal location for our new training program with the following training days:

Does it make sense to take private lessons?

We are convinced that private lessons can help players advance. The advantage of private lessons is that you can work in a small group of 4-6 players with a professional trainer. The trainer immediately recognizes the strengths and weaknesses and immediately works on the bad habits.

Reality shows that club training is primarily team-oriented and not individual-oriented. In private lessons, the priorities are focused on the small details, but in club training the time required is simply not available. It’s not realistic for a team of 20+ players to have to stand around because one small detail needs to be corrected on one player. Focus on details is so important to success, but has no place in team training.

Private training in small groups is so valuable because the coach looks at the details of each player and can take corrective action immediately. With each lesson, the player is challenged and gains confidence.

Reality shows us that successful ice hockey players are self-confident, while players with problems mainly lack self-confidence. You gain self-confidence when you build it up with small successes and that’s where private lessons come into play. Every exercise in training that is successful makes the player more self-confident, which he can then implement in the game. From a coaching perspective, it is very encouraging to see a player’s confidence grow from training to training.

Private lessons are not cheap because of the high cost of ice cream and especially in this day and age of energy crisis. From a financial perspective, we decided to work in groups of 4-6 players to keep the cost per player within a reasonable range.

We also want to be clear that one or two lessons does not make a difference in performance, so we have structured our program so that we deliver two lessons per month over the next 5 months.

Private lessons are a success because the small details are worked on until they are just right. This process cannot be achieved in an hour; the details improve over weeks and months of repeatedly working on the same “good” habits.

If a player is looking for opportunities to build their confidence, take their game to the next level and are willing to work on the little details, then private lessons are for them.
